My computer is back from the repair shop, huzzah. As soon as we got it hooked back up I installed my new ISP software and zoomed around setting everything up. I browsed to my heart's content, catching up on my favorite diaries, and checking through all the borked HTML code I emitted while using the old computer. I can now announce the first portion of my revisions. Email CoA: huntzinger@mindspring.com is now my preferred email address. It will take me a while to get the old address updated on all my journal pages, and I don't know when I'll get my personal site changed over to the new home. It's in the works. Which leads me to the second portion of my revisions: Archipelago is moving to GeoCities. Stop choking on your biscotti. GeoCities contacted me and offered 5 megs of free space (personal pages only get 2 megs). They indicate we'll be a Featured Site, which translates to lots of hits and that's something I want for the web ring. Now that I have unlimited access to the Web, maintaining a GeoCities site isn't the burden it was when I could only get a half-hour line. And I *like* GeoCities' attitude. I've had a personal site there for several months, and the improvements and upgrades are darned user-friendly. So as soon as I get that settled (probably over the weekend), I'll announce the new URL. Let's see, have I left anything out that might cause my readership to drift deeper into sleep? No, I think that's it for now. I would like add a quick side note to readers of Diary-L. I am not on the mailing list because I don't have time for another mailing list, and I'm not real interested in this particular one, as it happens. But I'm very glad there's a discussion on what a web ring is, what Archipelago is, and that everyone is expressing their opinions. Yes, I've seen some of the discussion because it gets forwarded to me by interested parties. No, my feelings aren't hurt if you don't like what I've chosen to do. And I think there's a genuine need for a web ring which focuses on quality, not simply quantity. Separating the wheat from the chaff is not wrong. Just wanted you to know.
