Here it is, our very own home. No time for fancy presentation, I'm afraid. I've got to run to the nursery to get some containers so I can start transplanting all the bulbs and plants I've got in the permanent raised beds. I'll bet my iris don't like being uprooted during their growing season; I probably won't see any of them until next year. There's a nice, shady, damp spot for them in the front yard - not that there's much of a front yard, but it's perfect for iris and other shade-loving plants, the kind I have heaps of.
Left: It's small but it's all ours.
Right: Did I mention it's small?
A sunny yard with no trees or horrible bushs. I'm dreaming, aren't I?
Left: Open the front door, step into the living room.
Right: Keep going into the dining room.
There's two bedrooms up the short flight of stair to the right of the dining room. You can see into the eensy kitchen beyond, and John is standing in the laundry room which leads to the back steps. The inspection went well; nothing wrong other than ungrounded outlets and the water heater needing to be strapped down as per earthquake safety requirements. Tomorrow we'll sign off on the inspection, find out exactly what kind of loan we can have, and sort out some transfering of funds between bank accounts. At the end of the month escrow will close and we'll be able to start moving. Many thanks to all of you who have written to congratulate us. I've had about 50 emails in the last two days and I haven't had time to write to everyone individually, but I'm delighted so many who read this journal share our joy in finding a home of our own. We did it. We bought a house in the Bay Area. We beat the odds.
YEEEEEEHAW!
