Cat got your tongue?

Thanks to alert readers Bob Webber, Vicki Rozensweig, Mike Scott, Luke McGuff, and Dana Siegel for identifying the mysterious Japanese cookies as "cat's tongue" cookies. I knew they were called cat's tongue, but I did not know they were typically served at teas. It makes sense, though, as they're light and crunchy. Bob thought the brand name of Couque d'Asses meant "These cookies will kick your ass," which seems a bit disorderly for a nice, polite tea cookie.
