People of the Bay Area, mark your calendars now! From the Cartoon Art Museum's mailing list, thoughtfully forwarded by Michael Rawdon:
"It's Mutts at the Cartoon Art Museum, December 18, 1999 through February 2000. Yesh!! Mutts, the popular comic strip feature in the San Francisco Chronicle, is coming to the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco in dozens of dazzling original drawings by the strip's creator, Patrick McDonnell. Mutts presents the not so innocent adventures of Earl (the dog) and Mooch (the cat) with a unique attitude - an animal's point of view. Combining a historical comic arts perspective with an accurate eye on modern life has proved to be a winning combination. McDonnell's comic strip appears in over 400 major newspapers and his books have been published in more than 20 countries. He has won several awards including a Harvey Award and the National Cartoonist's Society's 1996 Comic Strip of the Year."
The Cartoon Art Museum is a tax-exempt, non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of original cartoon art in all forms. The Museum is located at 814 Mission Street (at 4th), second floor, in San Francisco. For additional information, call (415) CAR-TOON or check out their web page at http://www.cartoonart.org. If you love that schmitten kitten Mooch and his pal Earl and their humans, go see this. I'm definitely going. I love "Mutts." I think it's the finest artwork in newspaper comics today.
