The folks came by as promised, and there was a great deal of talking, laughing, eating, playing with the pets, and sorting out the next year's vacation plans. A storm moved in by mid-afternoon so we sent them on their way south, and settled in with a fire and a cup of tea to listen to the rain. I read my new magazines, every so often looking around with deep satisfaction at the clean, tidy house. John pottered around with various projects. Dixie periodically shifted from one room to another in search of the ideal snoozing location. The cats investigated the remains of the cinnamon raisin bread. Then we watched The Maltese Falcon again. I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow. The rain is wonderful if you're staying indoors, but tomorrow it'll mean rain gear and getting splashed by cars and the office smelling like wet dog. The work load isn't crazy but for the last week I've been pretty busy throughout the day, no time to look at web diaries or even fire up ICQ. At least rain will slow down the walk-ins who just want to chitchat about Las Vegas. I have a number of packages and tours to follow up on (type up itineraries, book extra flights, arrange lodging, process visas, etc.) and prefer not to have a constant stream of interruptions. A nice quiet day would be favorite.
Good thing this is a four day work week for me. I know I need a vacation when I start complaining about the clients bothering me by actually wanting to buy travel.
