Geek tragedy.

I'll spare you the agonized listing of what went wrong with my operating system, how I fixed it, and what's still not right. I will tell you my files are restored and I hope to catch up on all my online chores very soon. For now, I have nothing to say aside from geek talk, unless you want to hear about the beauty of the night sky after a stormy weekend, or the tiny striped-face finches outside my window that sound just like frogs peeping, or the amazing amount of catalogues we receive every day (the former renters were catalogue junkies, it appears). Life has been slow, idle, pleasurable, and domestic. I could get used to this.
