Little Ghosts

HAPPY HOWLOWEEN

We're thinking of getting Jasper a costume so he doesn't scare the kids as much when he barks his head off. Jasper's a watchdog. He doesn't approve of strangers coming to the door. He never barks at anyone he's met before, which is nice, but we're thinking hordes of little costumed people might meet with his disapproval. We, of course, don't want to frighten our visitors so we're hoping they won't be as worried if he's wearing a clown ruff and stripey clothes or something. I'd really like to get him the cool Buffy the Vampire Slayer costume, complete with rubber stake and plastic cross on a chain, but I think kids would wig out at Buffy the barking dog. Clown dog, not so much.

John will be manning the door. I will actually be absent, enjoying a Halloween mai tai with Trish in Honolulu. Honestly, I haven't given much thought to the vacation until just now. I've been focused on the paper and my tests.

I got another B, by the way. This depresses me. I know that makes me a big loser, but jeez. Who gets B's on take-home tests? This is a really hard class, one that I'm enjoying very much, but I am working my ass off for merely above average grades. It's reminiscent of Oceanography in which I also loved the material, loved the professor, paid attention, took copious notes, and never got higher than a B on the tests. I got an A for the term because of the extra credit then, and I think that's a possibility this time, too, but I'm not counting on it. A solid 85 percent. I'm not good with large scale memorization, but apparently I'm not good with any kind of test for him.

I am, no kidding, going to have to study in Hawaii. That sucks so much.

Anyway, I'll miss all the little kids at the door but I'm glad John will be able to enjoy the occasion. I wish he were coming with me, but at least we had a ten day vacation together in July. I usually take a lot of three day weekend trips with the rest of my vacation time and he isn't usually interested in going on them because it's either total beachification with my girlfriends (no maniacal sightseeing allowed), visiting my folks, or going to a science fiction convention. I'm going to get him down to Palm Desert with me in the winter, though.

No matter where you are at the time, have spooky fun on Halloween. And watch out for ghost dogs.
