It's suddenly occured to me that I can afford a digital camera. I don't know how this happened; I'm sure it was only last month that I was feeling deprived because I couldn't lash out on a new camera. But no, come to think of it, it was last year that I was desperately faunching for something which would allow me to download my images directly into the computer. At any rate, I reviewed my bank account and I'm ready to buy so I'm researching it a little. I think I want the Epson PhotoPC 600; it gets excellent ratings in online reviews, it has all the features I'm looking for except one, and it's less than $500. Admittedly not by much, but it is most affordable for a midrange camera. What do I need in a digital camera? It's got to have better than 640x480 resolution, it's got to have rechargeable batteries instead of disposables, and it's got to include everything I need to use it. I loathe having to buy add-ons just to get the basic usable device. I'd love it if it had a detachable lens, like the Minolta Dimage V which Ginkgo uses, but I think I'll sacrifice the ability to do self-portraits with ease for the other features I want. If anyone has any strong feelings about which digital camera rules the world, tell me about it.
