Natasha ate a Cheetoh tonight.

I didn't think she would. She usually shuns snack food. I'll never eat tuna, chicken, or cereal with milk alone again, but neither of the cats is normally all that interested in what I'm eating if it's not one of those three things. Natasha was just fascinated by the hideously unnatural orange goop on my fingers, though, as I ate a few Cheetohs instead of getting off the sofa and making dinner. She snuck over and poked her nose right up to the bag so I offered her one. After a couple of preliminary licks she chomped down on it with enthusiasm. I feared for my fingers, in fact. What a cat. I wonder how she feels about lima beans? Probably the same way I do. Maybe I'll put off dinner for real and just eat some more Frito-Lay products (the Fifth Food Group) instead.

We do not normally feed our pets human snack food, honest. On the other hand, I would like to point out that John had donuts, garlic bread, and ice cream for dinner tonight. Most of the time we have a normal, properly balanced meal of protein, carbohydrates, and vegetable matter, I swear, but sometimes we're just totally out of our minds.

I'm really pleased to announce that my boss hired a receptionist/travel agent trainee today. There will be someone to answer the phones and direct calls now while Marley, she of the carpal tunnel problems, is on vacation in Italy. Even more importantly, there will be someone to do the much-hated job of filing invoices. I don't foresee a new agent in our future until Marley actually quits so I'm still trying to baby my tendonitis. As you can see, I have difficulty with self-discipline.

Oh, all right, I'm going now.
