Janice Gelb came by the office to buy her flights to New Zealand and Australia in June, and then we went out to lunch. She filled me in on the hot Worldcon gossip, and it's pretty ay chihuahua hot. People seem born with a propensity to behave badly when they think they can get away with it. I always thought the goal was to grow out of this and learn to be responsible, thoughtful creatures, but some days I think I'm in the minority.

Lunch was the highlight of the day. The morning was filled with work-related sturm und drang of all sorts but the afternoon gradually became dull and quiet. I went hunting for rates on Las Vegas hotels and found a deluxe room at the Paris for $30 a night less than the rate I was holding for a standard room. Boredom pays off!

I went to the gym but I didn't have any energy and the place was full. Tuesdays are just too busy for my taste, though I did at least get a treadmill right away. I tried to forget my day and just run, but I was dragging my feet the whole time. I gave up after twenty minutes and went out onto the main floor to lift weights. I was a bit put off by the music (heavy metal, not really my ideal motivational music), couldn't manage more than three reps of anything, and finally beat it out of there in time for the early train. Still, I got a decent 40 minutes in and every visit counts as a blow against the forces of entropy and utter flabbiness.

Came home and watched Buffy, then finished my splash page for my Photoshop class with the changes the teacher requested. It looks busier but more business-like and I'm happy with it. I keep forgetting this course is a division of the Business Department. My attempts to study the terms for our quiz was severely undermined by a series of cat and dog interactions. Jasper was deeply distressed by Keiko going into his crate, even though he now never uses it. She sat in there giving him the inscrutable cat look and he was whining piteously as he dashed back and forth between me and the crate. Then there was some business with needing my attention for petting and playing and wrastlin' on the floor. I gave up on the studying and opted to take him for an early walk, after which I answered email and read through the hotel contract for Journalcon 3.

My life is so glamorous. I don't know how you can stand not to be me.
