Koroshiya, Goddess of Technology, came to visit me in my affliction last night and brought bounty: her old Kodak DC290 digital camera which heartily kicks the butt of my trusty but limited Epson PhotoPC 600 (I'm buying it from her), her Rio 600 mp3 player (gratis, as she has acquired an iPod), and her friend Dave. We had us a good time, despite the fact that I had to stand half the time and made lots of involuntary grimaces of agony any time I had to get out of a chair. They'd been to Macworld that day and gave us the lowdown on cool stuff. We laughed a lot, told stories, drank Coca Cola products, and decided to try to go to Las Vegas in February. Koroshiya and I, that is. We need some more Vegas.

I've spent the better part of the evening ripping CDs (new lingo, get me) and creating a cool 80's playlist. At last, most of my favorites in one place on my computer. No more getting out a dozen CDs just to listen to one or two songs from each. I also made a workout playlist and downloaded that to the mp3 player so the next time I go to the gym I will not have to listen to either the news, ESPN, or a talk show on the televisions in the cardio room. I always like the music they play in the weights and machines areas, it's broadcast throughout the large rooms but you can't hear it in the cardio area. These songs* are making me very happy. The list doesn't include a few of my favorite songs, but I don't have them on CD, just cassette, so I need to remedy that.

Today I went to the chiropractor bright and early again, and may I just say what a hero my husband John is for driving me round trip to San Carlos two mornings in a row and then going back down the peninsula to his job at Stanford? I may? I do, heartily. I was dreadfully stiff this morning but there was some improvement as I was able to nearly get myself onto the table this time. The treatment was much more painful today than yesterday, I don't know why. I cried really hard several times, it hurt so much. But it worked. All day I've felt the muscle spasms lessening. I ice my back 20 minutes on, 45 minutes off, and take Advil like there's no tomorrow. Actually, I've reached my limit on that stuff. My stomach can't handle more than 9 a day, and that's not even as much at the doctor recommended. I feel a lot more human. I credit a hot shower with the last part, though. The worst part about being unwell, besides the actual discomfort, is feeling grotty and unclean.

So guess what arrived today in the mail to cheer me up in my second day at home? The charmingly frank, back-for-a-short-time-only, "William Fucking Shatner" t-shirt from the mighty, mighty wilwheaton.net! I'm very pleased with it. I can't actually wear it yet because I confidently ordered the women's size XL. I'm losing weight and damn it, I needed a short term reward for losing the first 20 pounds. I figure I can get into it by March and not look like I'm bursting at the seams. I am really looking forward to that.
